FEAR= the number ONE dream KILLER!

F.E.A.R. is a well know acronym that commonly stands for: False Evidence Appearing Real.

Today, I want to address some of the “FALSE” beliefs that keep many, many people from reaching their FULL potential and realizing all of their dreams.  In the following paragraphs we will discuss some of the questions, concerns and excuses that I have personally heard from individuals.

The one thing the past few years should have taught all of us is: “JOBS” are very fragile things!  There is no company in existence today where your future can be guaranteed.  Even careers with the “federal” government are not SAFE anymore.  It was not so long ago when if you worked for the government, you most likely had a career that took you to a good retirement.  That simply is NOT true any longer.  I personally know this because my wife (Cindy) is about to be forced out of her job of 24yrs.

Lest not forget the 10’s of thousands of career minded individuals who have unexpectedly found themselves in unemployment lines and facing foreclosure.

(Having additional income coming in from a small home based business may have been able to help many of these people.)

Benefits packages are indeed a strong argument for staying in the “traditional” workforce arena.  Fortunately, in this day and age one can set up IRAs and purchase health insurance for themselves much easier than it was a few years ago.

Today, a person can work in a small home based business part-time and earn a FULL-TIME income that is more than sufficient to support a “personal” benefits package.  First, let me say that this EXCUSE is the WRONG way to think about time with your family.

If you are indeed one of the VERY FEW people that is so hard pressed by your employer that you cannot make time for yourself and your family, “YOU” are the very person who needs to start a home based business the most!

Secondly, it is true that getting a small, home based business off the ground will take a little more time away from you in the “short” run.

The upside of additional income and the potential to turn a part-time venture into a FULL-TIME career that you will love doing is well worth the initial sacrifice. As your home based business gains traction and income increases, you will have MORE time for yourself and your family because you will be in charge of your time.

NOW, we’re getting down to the legitimate reasons for the apprehension most people have about working from home in their own small business. Fortunately today, we are living in a time of unprecedented availability and access to education, information, training and expertise.

1. Why work from home? I have a good job!

2. I really don’t want to have to give up my retirement & health benefits.

3. I don’t have enough time for myself and my family as it is; additional business activities would even take more of that time away.

4. I really don’t know anything about starting a business and wouldn’t know how to even begin.

As a person who has started several small businesses and enjoyed varying levels of success and my share of failures, let me say the best place to start is with your low hanging fruit. Take a look around at your life and “ANSWER” a few questions.

1. If money were NO object what would you like to spend your life doing?

2. What would you say you are passionate about?

3. What would other people say about you?
          You love doing _________.

You seem to know a lot about ____________.

You seem to have a knack for __________.

4. What type of items is your home and garage FULL of?

5. Your dream vacation is _________.

Often times a look at our hobbies and possessions can help us get an idea of “How” we might describe our idea of a perfect life. Once we have some idea of where we may like to begin, a simple Google search can go a long way in revealing to us the next steps to take.

In Closing:

I really want you to realize that there are countless ways you can make extra income from home doing WHATEVER it is you are passionate about.

REMEMBER: The first step is always the hardest.

The 1st step is to openly and honestly examine yourself and decide if you are living the LIFE you want.

The second step is deciding in what direction you would like to see your life moving.

It is only after the above things are done, that we can begin to research and develop our NEW life.
