End Mentrual Woes with Simple Dietary Changes and Aromatherapy

Menstrual pain, as the name implies, is caused by a natural monthly process of the body in most women of childbearing age.  Though this is a natural process of the body, menstrual pain and cramping many times accompanies a woman's menstrual cycle.  The areas that feel this pain tend to be the lower abdomen and/or lower back, though the thighs can also feel the effects.  Other effects may include headaches, dizziness, constipation, and nausea.  While not all women feel pain related to their  menstrual cycle, it is considered a natural part of how the body works.  Therefore, most women are liable to feel the effects of it at one point or another.

Among the more common ways of achieving menstrual pain relief is the application of heat.  Things such as hot compresses and the like have often been applied to the pain-afflicted areas to help reduce the effects.  While this does not work at all times, a
sufficient amount of heat can often be helpful in relieving the associated pain.   Some women may also  find relief with various positions that relieve pressure on the lower back, such as lying on the side or with legs lifted.

Aromatherapeutic massage oils and inhalations have also proven quite effective in addressing PMS and other mentrual symptoms without the side effects and detrimental long term effects of conventional medications.  The pure essential oils used in aromatherapy help to naturally balance hormonal changes in the body, thus minimizing the symptoms.  Combined with a sensible diet that is high in whole grains, lean meat or fish, fresh fruits and vegetables, and low in empty carbohydrates and sugar content, aromatherapeutic blends provide a pleasant alternative means of addressing any imbalances and building the immune system.

A few essential oils that are helpful in managing menstrual woes are lavender, clary sage, juniper, lemon, rosemary, nutmeg, ginger, cypress, and peppermint.  Aromatherapists can prepare wonderful blends for massage and inhalation to assist you in finding your best balance.
